Untitled
Friday + Saturday

CONSUMPTION:

Water: Took a 7 min shower, brushed teeth, washed hands, flushed toilet.  I had one bottle of water and about 3 cups of non bottled water.

Food:  Had a bowl of cereal for breakfast and used water to wash it when i was done.  I had a turkey sandwich for lunch and some cookies.  I had a burger and brownies later in the day, and one orange soda (clearly not a good day in terms of food consumption).

Electricity:  I got home and feel asleep early so i barley used my tv and computer, and the lights were not on, so i saved a good amount of energy today.

Gasoline: I didnt drive anywhere.

Money:  I only spent about 7 dollars friday, not ideal but still not a lot of money spent.

REDUCTION:

The only things i have noticeably reduced is water consumption through out my day with showers and things like that, and i drink less bottled water.  The money and electricity were other things i wanted to reduce, and during this project it was a mixed result.  Some days i spend a little money and use a small amount of electricity and other days i dont.

SUSTAINABILITY:

I now am using less water in my life, and i think its a good change that i can continue doing.  As i said previously the electricity and money saving comes and goes but i am trying to be more consistant in those areas too.

FOLLOWING:

A lot of people took this project very seriously and others didnt, and the water foot print thing was very interesting, and it was cool seeing my peers different results.

SATURDAY

CONSUMPTION:

Water: took a very long shower today, so that was a big waste of water.  I Only drank tap water today.  Brushed teeth, washed hands, flushed toilet etc.

Food:  I had a bowl of cereal, two sandwiches for lunch, and ended up having to get fast food today (mcdonalds).  I also had a sprite.

Electricity:I used the refrigerator and microwave today.  I was barley home on saturday so the electricity consumption was low today. (didnt use tv or computer, and i wasnt home so lights were not being kept).

Gasoline: no gas wasted

Money: i spent 20 dollars today when i went out at night.

REDUCTION:

I reduced my electricity usage over the past two or three days, so i made good progress on that.  I backtracked a little today with water usage, but overall i am doing well in that area.

SUSTAINABILITY:  I am now getting better in terms of electricity.  I did end up using more water than i usually do, but if i continue like i am, there is a large difference in how much water and electricity that i use and i am happy about that and plan on going in the direction I am now.

FOLLOWING

Some people seem happy this is almost over, but a lot of people are saying they want to continue with these lifestyle changes after the experiment concludes and thats a good thing to see.

Technology Thursday

CONSUMPTION

Water: Had one bottle of water, but all the other water i drank was not bottled.  I took a 5 minute shower, flushed the toilet, brushed teeth, and washed hands.

Food:  Finally got a chance to eat breakfast, i had a bowl of frosted flakes (not the healthiest but they’re good).  I had a turkey sandwich for lunch and a bag of snack mix.  I bought some pizza after school and had a ginger ale.

Electricity: I didnt turn on my T.V. untill about 10:00, but i needed to use the computer.  Not one of my best electricity conserving days, but not bad overall. I probably used the refrigerator at some point and didnt really use anything else.

Gasoline:  I dont waste gasoline

Money: spent 10 dollars today, again more than i wanted to spend.

Reduction: I now take faster showers and have dramatically lowered my water usage, and i have reduced the amount of bottled waters i drink.  My eating habits are still kind of bad, but i havent had too much fast food (i havent spent too much on food).

Sustainability

I have managed to get used to using less water and electricity, but i wanted to spend less money. At the beginning of the project i was doing a pretty good job, but now im not and want to end the week strong and not spend money.

Following:

My dashboard is very interesting, and i enjoy seeing the effort from other classmates.  This project has so far became more interesting by the day for me and apparently other classmates.

Waterless wednesday (late)

CONSUMPTION:

water: I only had around 4 cups (maybe more im not sure) of tap water today.  I took about a 5 min shower (to save water of course) I brushed my teeth and did all the extra stuff like flushing toilet, washing hands etc.

Food: I still did not get to eat anything for breakfast, but i had some snacks from the vending machine and a turkey sandwich. I had way to much soda and a bowl of ceral in the middle of the night.

Electricity:Computer was off more than it usually is, but i can still save more energy by using it less.  The T.V. was barely on, and i havent used the XBOX in like 2 weeks.  I dont know who was home today, but for the most part a lot of the lights were not being overused.

Gasoline: my mother wasted gasoline with her gas. I didnt

Money: spent like 40 dollars on i dont know what, so this isnt a good day in terms of saving money

REDUCTION:

By wednesday i have realized that i am no longer wasting as much water throughout my daily routine, and i am not drinking nearly as much bottled water. Still need to focus more on electricity i think, but my overall reduction of the things that need to be reduced has been good.

SUSTAINABILITY:

AS i said previously i have gotten use to wasting water a lot faster than I initially had thought, and i was spending less money but the last day or two i was spending more than i wanted too.  Overall my bottled water consumption has went down, my showers are faster (still very efficient though) ,and ive watched less T.V. so the energy consumption is down.

FOLLOWING

By following my peers ive noticed that people took this a lot more serious than i thought and some people are having fun with it.  A lot of people are making good changes throughout the week and seem to be sticking with them.

DAY 2 AND 3

Consumption:

Water:  i had one bottle of water took a faster shower than usual, flushed the toilet, washed my hands and brushed my teeth.

Food:  No breakfast because i had to go to school. Half a piece of pizza from school and two bags of chips, and rice and shrimp thing for dinner

Electricity: I used my computer and tv. I fell asleep with both of them on and the light in my room.

Gasoline: no car=no gas

Money: spent 12 dollars on i dont know what.

Reduction:  I realized i used less water and did not take a shower as long as usual.  I spent more money, but i have spent a lot more in shorter periods of time so i am doing well in that area.

Sustainability: building on what i said last time i wasted a lot of electricity this day, so that is not good but i wasted less water.  I need to try to drink less bottled water and focus on saving electricity.

DAY 3 :

Consumption:

Water: i had a bottle of water, but drank more tap water than bottled.  I took another quicker shower, flushed toilet, brushed teeth, washed hands etc.

Food: Again no breakfast, turkey sandwich, and burgerking

Electricity:  Saved a lot of electricity during the day to make up for yesterday, but when i got home i had the tv and computer on.

Gas: Still no car

Money: i spent money on the post office and food today.  Another day of not spending a lot of money

Reduction:

The main things that have been reduced are water and money.  After class today i realized that I’m below the average and don’t use too much water anyway, and i have had more money because I’m spending less.

Sustainability:

I now use less water and spend less money.  THose were two of the things i was focusing on and so far it has been working well for me.  I now need to drink less bottled water and save more electricity.  I plan on attempting that in the coming days.

DAY 1

Consumption:

Water: Today i took a shower, and did not keep track of how long, and brushed teeth.  Had about 2 bottles of water.

Food: pancakes, scrambled eggs, a muffin, orange juice, arizona, wendys.

Electricity:  I had my computer on the charger all day.  Didn’t watch a lot of tv.  lights at home were not on as much as usual.

Gas:  I dont have a car.

Money: only bought food and took the bus, so i didnt spend a lot of money.

Reduction:  Im not sure on the exact time but my shower seemed shorter, also i did not spend nearly as much money as i usually do.  I also managed to save energy at home by not having as many lights and T.Vs on.

Sustainability:  As of now the main thing that i feel like im going to try to do long term is spend less money.  I also am going to waste less electricity (lights, TV, etc.)
